Will the Millennial generation become like the hippies of the late 60's did?

Funny how this down economy has changed the "kids". 8 years ago they would have aspired to have the American dream, shiny cars and diamond rings,  Now they entertain communism and label themselves part of "Tribes" foraging non GMO grains, an army of individualist forced to conform to this stereotype or be pushed a side. When that economic cycle swings the other way will they know what to do with it..will they become like the the hippies in the 60's did in the 80's? This is what I'm thinking about today.

Who is Eric Elegado the Mortgage broker? He was a client of mine. Many have wondered what happened after his arrest in San Diego. Here is the latest. Knowing that almost every mortgage broker I knew was faking income for clients I bet many are wondering if the FBI is coming for them. We can only guess that Eric's flashy lifestyle made him a target of investigation. I also conclude that the falsification of documents was a large cause of the Great Recession that put many people out of work, bankrupted small businesses, homes lost, homelessness, pain and suffering worldwide that still effects many family's to this day 5 years later. Had mortgage brokers held a higher ethical standard and followed policy maybe the crash would not have happened? Pure speculation.

You know it's a risky fish when the fish shop owner tells you your fish probably died of a heart attack. Yeah great day 1 to 4 dies on day 6. All to other fish are happy and my water is good. Two dead tangs is enough. Not spending another $30 to watch one swim around for a week.

How much does it cost to run a salt water fish tank? What's the cost of salt water fishtanks?

I recently took the plunge into the world of salt water fish. I had done freshwater before and it wasn't long before I'd have a green swamp monster in the tank AKA algae.

So I'll admit it, I got a salt water tank because I have two little kids who love fish and yes Nemo. I later learned that "fish" people which I am not and fish store people hate hearing "Look it's Nemo"! They really should love hearing that because I'm sure Nemo has boosted salt water fish supply sales far beyond pre nemo sales.

Anyway after some investigation I started to get the idea that salt water fish tanks are actually easier to maintain than fresh water. Why? because a wise salt water set up is an eco system. That means there are bacteria and other critters that manage the fish waste. A well balanced system means you won't be needing to vacuum the fish shit out of the bottom every week like a freshwater tank. I'm sure there is a way to build a freshwater eco system but most just put that neon colored rock and vacuum fish shit out or have their tank turn onto an ugly mess.

The other critical advice I got was that SMALL saltwater tanks are HARDER to be successful keeping fish and corals alive. Why? Because if there is a water quality issue there is less room for error. If you have 20 gallons and the water specs get off it happens FAST.  With a larger tank it happens SLOW giving you more time to react and correct. Larger tanks 55gallon plus are more stable. A fish store keeper told me once you lose one or two $30 fish that little tank will end up in your garage.

So I went with a 90 gallon I found on craigslist for $150! great deal!!! The tank came operating with two fish, 160lbs of live rock and 120lbs. of live sand, canister filter, protein skimmer. If you price that out you'd pay $2000 for all that if not more and take 4 months to get the tank up and running. Well after upgrades, adding fish, buying food, supplies, etc.and a 1/3 USED chiller to keep the water temp in spec at 80 degrees so everything doesn't die during the hot California summer I dropped another $1000 in the first week of owning the tank!!!!!

OK, so it's been 3 months and yes my tank manages itself to some degree. Every day I use the magnetic glass cleaner to keep the green film down. Every week I change out 30% of the water, every two days I clean the filter sock. Every day I feed once in the morning and once at night frozen mison shrimp which I clean first and feed a little at a time to be sure they eat them all.

So how much does it cost? Well let's look at monthly fixed costs. This is the info I was not given and could not find online.

1. Water changes. When you change 30% of the water you need to add salt to that new water. It costs me $12 in salt once a week. I have an RO/DI water filter I got on Craigslist for $40 so I don't have to buy good water which would add to the cost. So lets call it $55 a month in salt water plus a little for water.

2. To have coral you need good lighting and water circulation and the water temperature must be maintained between 78 and 81. To do that you need a water chiller, water heater, T5 lights and pumps. I figure all that gear running 24 hours a day is about $25 a month in electricity.

So just to have it running is $80 a month.

Then there are the fish. They are expensive. They can be fragile. And if you're new at this you will lose some.

So far I wiped out two clown fish, a blue tang, yellow tang, had a clown jump out onto the floor... about $120 worth of fish.

I've had a green hair algae bloom, a red cyno bacteria bloom, if you move live sand or rock your tank will get a nutrient spike that cause these algae outbreaks that take weeks to cycle.

Oh and tang fish are very susceptible to parasites from the ocean so if left unchecked you'll loose all your fish and have to wait 3 to 4 months with no fish before you can stock it again or the parasites will take hold. For these reasons people buy UV sterilizers to help with algae and parasites.

So there you have it. That is really what is takes and costs to have a salt water fish tank. The payout is a beautiful, peaceful display in your home that you and guests will enjoy especially if you display some nice corals. Remember corals run $35 to $150 each depending on size and fish $10 to $80 each. So the next time you see a spectacular salt water display some place just know you're looking at $4000 to $7000 in equipment, fish and coral.

Get those craigslist deals!!! There is always someone exiting this hobby because of time or costs.

iphone payment issue paypal not a valid payment method - credit card can't download apps

If you're reading this you probably can't download apps because your iphone or ipad says "Paypal not a valid payment method; please verify your account"

After sifting through lots of online speculation I found the answer. This is what fixed it for me. I had to go into the setting icon, select "icloud" then click on "account" which should match your itunes account name, re-enter a valid credit card and save, close out. Go onto your itunes on your desktop, go to "view account" then edit payment method. Enter the same credit card you just entered on the iphone under the icloud section. Go back to the phone and see if you can download apps.

How to tether your iphone andriod or any wifi to more than one computer with a home network or router for faster networking between computers

So you can connect tether up to 5 computers via WIFI to your iphone, they will network with each other but SUPER SLOW!! Like unusable. I guess the iPhone 5 isn't a very good router. So...

I needed a solution for a trade show booth that would be set up at street fairs. 3 computers needed to network with each other and all have access to the internet. We didn't want to connect to some random wifi, instead we wanted to connect via our iphone 5 with tethering.

Verizon now offers a cool 4 port LTE router that would have worked great however we would have been limited with that solution to using the LTE exclusively.

We wanted the option to connect to a hotel or convention center wifi to avoid data usage on the phone plan with the same setup. We also saw the Zoom 4504 solution which would have done the trick too but it said it required login info to connect to iphone usb modem from Verizon and we thought maybe Verizon wouldn't like that since they have their own solution now.

So how?

Netgear Universal WiFi adaptor (WNCE2001)

Connected to a normal router's WAN port.

Simple as that!

Login to Netgear universal adaptor, link up to iphone wifi, plug Netgear into router and you got what you came for!

We even tested a switch connected to the Netgear Universal Adaptor and that got all the computer online but not networking with each other.

So yes, you can share tether your iphone or android to more than one computer.

Movie Spring Breakers

So lame we left theater after 20 minutes as clearly it wasn't going to get any better. Cult classic? Hardly. Comedy, nope. Just a few college girl titty shots and characters will absolutely no character development. Save your money. We were actually in a great fun mood when we entered and this movie killed our vibe. How to get Desitin out of kids hair!

It's amazing that a parent can smell Desitin from 50 feet away down a hallway! But the fear of what you are about to find is real and for good reason. It's greasy, it smells and it's hard to get off of everything. We've made a good effort to keep Desitin out of their reach but some how kids are attracted to it like bees on a garden and have magic powers to find that lost tube in a closet or some how they can levitate up and get it out of baskets that are high up.

We'll I walk in and the stuff is caked in both the 1 year old and 2 year old's hair. OMG. Anyway, the answer was dish soap. Of course it's a slow process being very careful not to get the water in the eyes but it worked. If you're reading this GOOD LUCK!
